Nazita Lajevardi

J.D., Ph.D.

Welcome! I am a political scientist and attorney at Michigan State University working on issues related to public opinion and political behavior through the lens of religious and racial identity.

I received my Ph.D. from UCSD in 2017, my law degree in 2012 from the University of San Francisco School of Law and my Bachelor's degree in 2009 from UCLA. I was a postdoc at and continue to be affiliated with the CONPOL project at Uppsala University researching civic skills, political participation, and peer effects.

My work has been published in venues such as The Journal of PoliticsAmerican Political Science Review, Political BehaviorJournal of Race and Ethnic Politics, and Politics Groups and Identities, among others. It has also been featured in the popular media, including The AtlanticThe New York Times, The Washington PostVox Magazine, and The Huffington Post.
